SUMMARY:Unity Flag Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to join us for the unveiling of a significant piece of art created by renowned Indigenous artist Philip Cote.\nThe art, titled the Unity Flag, is carved into the wood of a pew which was previously located inside the Roncesvalles United Church.\nOrigin:  In 2023, through a grant provided by the Government of Canada, and funding by the Roncesvalles Village BIA Accessibility & Inclusion Resource Committee, this pew was purchased by the BIA from the church for the purpose of commissioning Philip Cote to use it as a ‘canvas’ for his art.  In the artists’ words, this artwork is a meaningful symbol of reconciliation.  This was an activation at the Roncesvalles Polish Festival in September 2023, where Philip was carving with audience participation and viewing.\nPlease join us for a short reception with light refreshments and conversation with the artist.  Read more here.\n
