On Saturday December 4, Santa Claus and Święty Mikołaj were greeted by a large and enthusiastic crowd of children as they arrived on a fire truck from Lansdowne Fire Station.
After arriving at the Polish Credit Union, the Santas were greeted by a children’s choir from the nearby Polish School at St. Casimir’s Church.
The Roncesvalles Village BIA put on a very enjoyable family-friendly show for the neighbourhood, with free popcorn, hot chocolate (courtesy of the Chocolateria), music and chocolate Santas (from European Fine Foods).
Following this, Santa and Święty Mikołaj retired to the High Park Library for the ever-popular free kids’ photo shoot.
The Roncesvalles Village BIA would like to thank everyone who made this a great day on Roncesvalles, including our volunteers and staff, our friends at Toronto Fire Station #426, the Polish Credit Union, Image Professional Photography, Elektra Photography, Sweetpea’s, High Park Library, Let The Good Times Roll DJ, The Chocolateria and Starbucks.
Join us on Saturday November 27 for the Roncesvalles Village Lighting Exchange at the Polish Credit Union.
Bring any two old strands of incandescent holiday lights and get one free strand of new energy-efficient LED lights!
Also: free hot chocolate and great deals and draws for shopping in Roncesvalles Village!
On November 16 there was a brief ceremony at City Hall to thank the hard-working volunteers of City of Toronto agencies, boards and commissions. Many hundreds of people volunteer their free time to serve on various boards, including those that govern the 72 BIAs in Toronto.
Outgoing mayor David Miller thanked the assembled people for their freely given time and labour to work to make Toronto a better place, and specifically mentioned BIAs as being a tremendous asset to the City, and one of Toronto’s greatest exports. (As you may know, the world’s first BIA was established in Bloor West Village in 1970.)

The Revue Cinema (recently voted the best repertory cinema in Toronto for the third year running by NOW Magazine!) will be home to some of the best of modern Polish Cinema from November 19 to 21 with the Ekran Film Festival.
The entire program is presented in Polish with English subtitles. Advance tickets can be purchased at any Polimex location or at the Revue Cinema.
The Roncesvalles Village BIA is pleased to support this event. Before or after your trip to Ekran, please visit your favourite shops and restaurants on Roncesvalles!
