Last December at the historic Palais Royale, at the 12th Annual TABIA and City of Toronto Awards Night, the Roncesvalles Village BIA was honoured with the Streetscape Award  for our collaboration with the STEPS I HeART Mainstreet Challenge.

The initiative:
Working with STEPS, the RVBIA commissioned four local artists, Allison Gorczyk, Andrea Rodriguez, Natalie Very B. and Nish, to paint 10 of the concrete planters and benches along Roncesvalles Avenue. The goal was to beautify our main street with vibrant and accessible art. With garden beds, concrete planters, and outdoor benches frequently tagged with graffiti, this was a creative placemaking opportunity to animate public furniture with functional art that discourages vandalism and reflects the cultures and joys of Roncesvalles.
