The Roncesvalles Village BIA is so pleased to share that Parkdale Green Thumb has been engaged for watering and maintenance of our 27 garden beds for 2026.   Parkdale Green Thumb Enterprises is not only hyperlocal, it is a unique landscape service provider which is also a non-profit workplace integration social enterprise overseen by the charitable organization Working For Change.

This year, the RVBIA is responsible for an additional 4 garden beds, added in 2023 as part of the KQQR re-construction project by the City of Toronto.  These beds are located between Marion Ave and Queen St West.  As part of the original streetscape reconstruction on Roncesvalles in 2012, these beds were managed by the City of Toronto (under contract) until the end of 2025 after which time they became the responsibility of the RVBIA.

Upon the advice of PGTE, we will be giving all garden beds a few more weeks to populate any perennial plants before we add or remove plant material.  We are looking forward to installing more pollinator plants and shrubs in the beds later in the growing season.

Also added to our total of garden beds is a unique tri-group project with a local community group, the BIA and PollinateTO at the 8th Fire Mural at Roncesvalles and Garden Avenue.  Stay tuned for more information coming in a few weeks!
