In honour of November 8th, Indigenous Veterans Day, the Friends of the Dundas Roncesvalles Peace Garden organized a tulip planting in the garden. Community members were invited to plant bulbs and remember those who gave their lives to defend Canada during the World Wars. The event recognized those who lived in our Roncesvalles community, and the surrounding streets, such as Fern, Geoffrey, and Parkside.
An exhibition called “They Walked these Streets” was also featured in the garden, with displays photos, stories, and street addresses for all 83 local servicemen who died in the world wars.
In the spring, when the tulips bloom, the flowers will help us to remember again, and keep the memories of those lost alive.
Roncesvalles Village BIA’s Accessibility & Inclusion Resource Committee provided blubs for the event.
