6 Comments on “2007 Polish Festival Schedule Now Available”

  1. This schedule would be helpful if it had info on the start of the parade — what time and where. I read somewhere else that it starts at Howard Par, when? Also, for people unfamiliar with the Festival, where is the “Main Stage”?

  2. I think the festival is a great idea with people enjoying traditional Polish food/music/dance/culture. However does the band really need the amps cranked so loud that my windows shake after 7pm? I realize it’s a Saturday, but it is not playing in the park or down by the lake it is smack bang in the middle of a residential area (not the downtown entertainment area), where a lot of families have small children.

Perhaps in the future, better planning could go into this. If you don’t feel that High Park is a part of Ronces, it might be useful to know that we are still able to hear the band (or bands as there were two playing at the same time) without any amps!

  3. The Saturday evening Polish Festival was great fun. The band LENNY GOMULKA & CHICAGO PUSH were fantastic! We just wish they were playing again today. They were definitely the highlight of this year’s Festival. I do feel better planning was in evidence this time around. If it’s any consolation – we passed by the skateboarding area near Howard Park earlier in the day and the volume at night was lower by at least 66%!! My two suggestions for next year’s festival: have some geneological booths set up so that Polish Canadians can track their heritage by last name, and it would be great if the beer gardens could have some lights around them at night to make them more inviting – like they do it in Europe! Also, Lenny Gomulka & The Chicago Push have our vote to come back again next year!

  4. The festival was great fun. The American Polka bands were superb and a great time was had by all.. Thanks Ray!!

It is too bad the city of Toronto ticketed every car on the side roads including all the American visitors and the Eddie Blazonczyk Band Bus from Chicago….. Welcome to Toronto!!!!! Perhaps parking at an outside facility with a shuttle coming into Roncesvalles would be a good idea for out of towners.

  5. Drove up from Buffalo, New York to attend the festival for the first time. It was a wonderful experience. The setting in an urban environment complete with quaint shops, family owned restaurants and festival “beer gardens” curbside made for a memorable afternoon. I too received a “Welcome to our City” ticket from the Toronto police for parking on a side street. Hope you can work something out with the PD next year.

  6. Are there any more info on the Upbeats trio? Do they have a website? And what are the members’ names?
